Back to it!

This summer has really flown by and I’ve been so lucky to spend some quality time on holiday with my family. This is my first summer also juggling a business with the children, which was very different! Reflecting upon this i think the kids have had to become more independent, cooking, helping out and going to purchase new school shoes on their own. A couple of years ago the thought of them choosing their own shoes, cooking and clearing up would have filled me with dread, but i have to say i have been quite impressed on how they have adapted. Don’t get me wrong there was a few moans when i said i couldn’t drop everything to become their taxi for their social lives and maybe they would have to start taking the bus! They have definitely learnt new skills from me stepping back and not doing everything for them.

So back to it! As i reflect on this ‘back to it routine’ i am constantly reading blogs that preach to make time for ourselves. As a working mum this does not come easy, but know it should be done. It is acknowledging that sometimes we need to sit with that cup of tea and reflect, or leave the dishes and head for that soak, or ask for help. Its not just booking massages and spa days once in a while, i feel its the little things we should incorporate into our everyday. With a little self love I truly believe it makes us better parents, friends and partners. This world is so stressful and competitive, its hard to remind yourself constantly that we need to be grounded. Reflect on our good things in life and feel grateful. I know this is hard but this is what I am going to be focusing on this coming term. So tonight i’m off to the warehouse to spoil myself! I am taking home some of my favourite Ila bath salts, a Pure Natural Therapy candle and a Goldfaden MD face mask I’ve had my eye on… so maybe once a week I can go into my own spa haven and recharge the batteries! …ooh and not forgetting some essential oils for my diffuser…
